Eclipse lessons — slow down and say no

Yesterday’s eclipse brings a reflective nature to the week. It is a time to take care of those parts of you that you usually put aside in order to forge ahead with other things. This week the lesson is to slow down, minimize your obligations, don’t take on anything new, and give some time to those areas of your self lacking needed attention.

It is a time to catch up on rest. Rest meaning both sleep and time to sit and reflect. As a culture, we all focus a bit more on the yang aspects of life, we focus on doing and not being. This week is a time to let the yin aspects have their say. The sun is the most yang element in our lives, and the moon is quite yin. Yesterday, the yin blocked the yang to say something important — heed those quiet, dark, less flashy aspects of your life. Have the courage to slow down and say no.

And have the respect for everyone’s need to do so and don’t take this week to ask a lot of your friends, families, and coworkers. Let everyone have a rest. And look into those dark corners you’ve been avoiding, this is a good time to bring whatever you’ve got in the closet out into the air and light, if only to keep it from getting musty and stale.

What is the reward for doing so? Realignment of your values and the focus of your life. Recuperation from stress and overexertion. A new relationship with your Spirit who often gets overlooked when the fanfare is high and the to-do list is long. We all have something on our self-care list that we relegate to that moment that we get a break from life. Well, this week is that break if you choose to take it. I suggest you do.
